Have you ever wondered why you love pole dancing? I have a theory. I think it comes from our child hood. This may be counter intuitive but hear me out. As children we are given the right to use our imagination, we get caught up in games and movements and sounds that are all our own. We are not judged for it until much later. In adulthood, day-to-day moments rob us of personal expression and creativity. Dance, motion, as unstructured as pole dancing... we have the ability to explore again. It is a taboo, so we do not fall into the routine of what is expected as a normal way to do it. This has appeal.

Then there is the playground factor. Have you seen a modern play ground, you suspend yourself upside down on monkey bars? You rotate around and slip down the fireman's pole. You feel the centripetal force of the merry go round, or the exhilaration of a fast swing.

Lastly what was your favorite time of year? I bet a majority of pole dancers will say it was Halloween. The costumes, the props, the themes, and the ability to turn into whoever you have always wanted to try out. You can try on someone you are not like what if it might be like to be. The pure fantasy and fanci-ment of costumes is thrilling.

And we cannot forget that selfishness of being a child. The world is all about you when you were a child. I don't really know at what point you loose this as an adult. I know most children spend their your lives fighting to be the one who has captured the full attention of the adults --in their grown up worlds. No wonder we love to recaptures this selfish attention by performing a dance where there is only one person in the spotlight and only one who can be part of the fun at a specific moment. One pole, one costume, one musical theme, one spin along one creative inspiration into one moment.

It's all about familiar, selfish, childish fun.
